Once-upon-a-time TSD journeys

The romantics and the enthusiasts of steam-engine journeys are invited to consider an adventure whose climax is an 1903 steam engine.

Site: Bucovina
Track: narrow-gage rail between Moldovita and Argel, 21 km long
Engine: "Kraus” steam engine, manufactured in 1903
Car: one roofless car in fair weather; one covered car in the cold, or rainy season
Duration: cca 6-7 hours, all yours
Lunch: in Moldovita, at a farm-house; or picnic
Sites to visit: the monastery of Moldovita, frescoed on the outside (1532), unique in the world; local cheese factory; local furniture factory

Day 0: Departure by 1-st class sleeper train, at 9.25 p.m.

Day 1: Arrival in Campulung Moldovenesc at 5.15 a.m. Transfer by bus to hotel

Take your room, take a shower, a nap

• 8.30 – breakfast
• 9.30 – transfer by bus to Moldovita
• Board the steam engine train, all yours, all day. Transfer back to hotel
• Dinner & overnight

Day 2: Visit the monasteries of Voronet, Homor – frescoed on the outside

(woolen carpets in Homor ! Easter-eggs !);

• Lunch at Homor monastery
• Visit the History Museum in Suceava, the fortress
• Departure by fast-train, 1-st class, to Bucuresti (4.00 p.m.)



• The price includes 1-st class sleeper-car Bucuresti-Bucovina; 1-st class fast-train Suceava-Bucuresti; full-board in day 1, breakfast & lunch in day 2, transfers by bus in Bucovina, museums, guide services.
• The cost of steam-engine train is $750, sharing to the number of participant.
